Hi, my name is Christian Tabi Amponsah – Chris Tabi for short.

I now recognize that those things I chose not to do are those things that I have to do.  I chose not to blog literally seen as a waste of time than to do other things I consider quasi-essential. With such an informal or conversational style, I now see the relevance having to join a group of bloggers for the purposes of showing my presence. Well, maybe I chose to leave by choice not by chance. Talking about freedom of choice, do we have little choice to make or we are not responsible for our choices? Do the environment or our genes seen as determining how we behave? Within the biblical contest, I consider the gift of freedom to choose was given at creation but compromised by sin, to the extent that it is so hard now to make good choices. I choose to return to this later.

I have been teaching a couple of courses on campus at TRU for a couple of years as sessions faculty and now seeking to teach Math though TRU-OL. So excited about that though not my first online teaching as I have been doing so for the past ten years in other institutions of higher learning. As stated earlier I’m not a blogger but have extensive experience teaching online using the Moodle platform and Blackboard.

My response to the three questions are as follows;

  1. Regarding what the most important characteristic of high quality online learning environments are and why it is important, I consider the creation of a long and lasting impact in learners’ knowledge and computer assisted instruction as an effective method for teaching and learning. Also, computer-based learning is seen to have a positive impact on student attitudes toward technology use as well as what they learn. In effect, however, not every e-learning environment can present similar positive effects. Therefore, students need to ask the questions—good questions, something seen as not a feel-good implication, but really crucial for the whole learning process to work.

One thing that I have learned about teaching online (or face-to-face if you haven’t taught online) in the last couple of years and how it has impacted your practice is that students appreciate regular communication and timely feedback on their progress. Teaching online can provide a lot of things to do in the course room if you have opportunities to teach both online and classroom-based courses.

  1. Questions about online teaching and learning, a lot but I consider them as evolving and certainly answers will unfold as I proceed.
